Our client is seeking a Traffic Engineer on an initial 5 Month contract with the possibility of an extension,

Working Hours and Pay Rate:

Monday - Friday, 08:30 - 16:30, at a pay rate of £24.00 Per Hour PAYE

Job Purpose:

Responsible on a day to day basis to a specific Senior Engineer, Section Engineer or Group Manager, to participate in the activities of a team undertaking design, implementation, and monitoring of specific projects, generally highway-related.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To assist in the programming and supervision of the work of technical and/ or other staff as appropriate, and on occasion, to deputise for the Senior / Section Engineer.
  • To undertake the design, consultation and implementation of schemes, generally for improvement, operation or maintenance of the public highway.
  • To prepare and supervise the preparation of drawings, calculations, specifications, contract documents, Traffic Regulation and other Orders, consultation and publicity material, and scheme cost estimates.
  • To arrange and supervise the implementation of schemes, including liaison with contractors and consultants, site supervision, survey and setting out work, and monitoring of scheme expenditure.
  • To participate in providing specialist advice in the area of work to which the post holder is allocated
  • To advise on temporary traffic arrangements, administration and control of on-street and off-street parking schemes, safety audits, and NRSWA procedures.

Skills and Experience:

  • Degree or equivalent
  • Chartered Membership of an appropriate institution
  • Design, consultation and implementation of schemes for Traffic improvement, operation or maintenance of the public highway.
  • Supervision of the preparation of drawings, calculations, specifications, contract documents, Traffic Regulation and other Orders, consultation and publicity material, and scheme cost estimates.
  • Arranging and supervision of the implementation of schemes, including liaison with contractors and consultants, site supervision, survey and setting out work, monitoring of scheme expenditure.
