A 2 month opportunity for a Software Developer has arisen with the local authorities in West Yorkshire.

The Position

West Yorkshire Combined Authority has a requirement for a Software Developer to complete a specific software development project. The position is expected to last for eight weeks.

Applicants must have and be able to demonstrate the following skills.

  1. Visual Basic .NET
  2. SQL Server
  3. NET Webforms
  4. Microsoft Azure Development

Work on the project will need to be done remotely.

Background to the Project

West Yorkshire Combined Authority is taking on responsibility for administering the Adult Education Budget in West Yorkshire. The Adult Education Budget is one among a number of responsibilities that are devolving to the Authority from central government as part of the devolution deal which will result in West Yorkshire having a Mayor.

As part of the Adult Education Budget, West Yorkshire Combined Authority will have the responsibility for making payments to providers of Adult Education in the region. The Authority is going to purchase a system for administering this process from Liverpool City Region Combined Authority. This system will need to be adapted to suit West Yorkshire Combined Authority's needs and that is the purpose of this post.

The system is an ASP.NET webforms project written in Visual Studio .NET. Data is stored in SQL Server.

Main Aims of Software Development Project

  1. At Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, the system outputs a payment file that is imported into their Agresso finance system. This payment file output will need to be modified so that the data can be imported into West Yorkshire Combined Authority's Technology One finance system.
  2. At Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, the system is hosted on an internal server. West Yorkshire Combined Authority intend to host their system on Microsoft Azure. The Azure services necessary to support the system must be built and configured and any changes to the software necessary for it to run correctly in the Azure Environment will need to be implemented.

Hours of work are 9am till 5pm, Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week.

This role is fully remote!

Rate of Pay

PAYE: £16.04

Umbrella £20.46
