We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior HR Consultant to join our busy offices based in Dorset on a temporary basis for 3 months with the possibility of an extension. We are looking for someone to start ASAP, working 37 hours per week, at £22.20 p/h.
As the Senior HR Consultant, your main duties will include:
- Use management information to provide analysis and insight to enable informed decisions on people management matters
- Provide strategic and practical advice on people management issues (with a focus on the most complex and contentious matters), ensuring Dorset Council/customers are employment law compliant and enabling managers to address root cause issues impacting on people and organisational performance
- Coach and develop managers in people management matters including managing performance, grievance, conduct, attendance and wellbeing issues
- Seek innovative ways to resolve conflict at work including mediation
- Support HRBPs and managers in TUPE transfers and manage the HR aspects of the process including post transfer arrangements
- Support HRBPs and advise and guide managers through the HR operational delivery aspects of restructuring, organisational reorganisation, service re-design and/or changes to terms and conditions of employment
- Work together with and commission colleagues in the HR&OD Service to deliver bespoke targeted solutions to workplace issues and to achieve consistent and cohesive HR outcomes
- Support the ongoing development of HR policies, procedures and guidance, ensuring the organisation stays safe and legal and promoting the desired culture and organisational outcomes
- Lead, advise on and/or participate in consultations and negotiations with recognised Trade Unions and professional associations, securing outcomes and maintaining a positive industrial relations climate V1.0
- Liaise, collaborate and consult with other councils, organisations and agencies as required
- Provide training to managers/customers and other HR & OD colleagues as appropriate
- Undertake continuing professional development to keep knowledge up to date, remain up to speed with best practice thinking and to develop and learn new skills
- Support/represent the organisation at Employment Tribunals or other relevant proceedings
- Creatively review the ways we work with our customers in order to continually improve and identifying effective ways of working
- Lead and support on work specific projects as required
To be successful for this Senior HR Consultant post you will need to have:
- Membership of CIPD or equivalent qualifications and/or experience. Experience
- Significant, relevant experience, ideally in the sector
- A track record of demonstrating continuous improvement in HR service provision
- Evidence of collaboration across a complex organisation
- Delegation and allocation of work to others
- Proven experience of successful partnership working with Trade Unions
- Experience of working with senior leaders and other decision makers
- Successful deployment of HR process, policy, practice, tools and techniques to achieve positive people outcomes Knowledge of employment law and its application in large organisations
- Project management skills and experience
- Knowledge of people management policies and practice
