We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join our client's offices based in Watford on a temporary contract basis for 4 months with the possibility of an extension. The client is looking for someone to start ASAP, working full time, 37 hours per week at £24.66 - £26.71 p/h PAYE.

As the Project Manager, your main duties will include:

  • Key role in designing, planning, developing, delivering and managing key council project and programmes in the regeneration arena aligning deliverables to council priorities and outcomes
  • Ensure that programmes are managed and tracked against delivery plans and reported through the council's project management framework
  • Deliver projects on time and on budget in line with the council's agreed governance as set out in the project management framework
  • Provide regular reporting on project progress, achievement of key milestones, risks and risk mitigation plans and leading and coordinating all project related reporting, monitoring and governance
  • Manage both the dependencies and the interfaces between projects
  • Provide expertise and knowledge on development appraisals
  • Coordinate and provide strategic direction for programme boards, managing risks, issues and dependencies to required quality and within approved tolerances
  • Draft tender briefs to ensure effective and robust procurements as required
  • Prepare planning/development briefs as required
  • Manage, monitor and control externalised contracts effectively ensuring that Service Level Agreements, service standards and contractual obligations are met
  • Manage project and programme budgets as directed and provide performance management information to relevant teams and Boards
  • Build effective working and professional relationships with other local authorities, partner organisations, government departments, funders, and other relevant local, regional and national bodies ensuring that good practice is highlighted, and the reputation of the council enhanced.

To be successful for this Project Manager post you will need to have:

  • Degree level or equivalent education or relevant experience
  • Planning qualification or relevant planning/regeneration experience
  • Strong programme and project management skills, including the ability to consult, plan, monitor and evaluate
  • Experience of supporting the delivery of major developments
  • Understanding of UK plan-making
  • Ability to write reports and deliver presentations and reports to successfully engage a wide spectrum of audiences, including senior managers and elected members
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a number of different teams, and to enthuse, motivate and equip individuals to deliver required outcomes to a high standard and on time
  • Ability to prioritise, organise and manage own diverse and complex workload
  • Advanced IT skills in relation to Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Project, Visio or other project tools
