Our client is seeking a Learning and Organisation Development Consultant on an initial 7-month contract with the possibility of an extension.

Working Hours & Pay Rate:

Monday - Friday, 36 hours at £12.71 p/h PAYE.

Job Purpose:

  • Responsible for supporting the delivery of the Learning and Organisation Development strategy.
  • Provides learning and organisation development support and advice to managers in order that they are able to meet their business priorities and deliver a high-quality service that adds value.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Works alongside managers to understand their service needs and priorities e.g. leadership, learning, recruitment and retention and improvements in performance and service standards in order to inform learning and organisation development plans
  • Advises senior management on emerging learning and organisation development issues and future challenges for their service needs and priorities.
  • Supports the development of Workforce Development Plans in consultation with the service area.
  • Acts as the conduit between local, corporate and national L&OD legislation, statue and priority.
  • Advises on cost-effective L&OD solutions.
  • Provides or commissions learning and organisation development activities (workshops, diagnostics, coaching, 1:1's).
  • Designs, implements, monitors and feeds back evaluation data.
  • Provides L&OD management information and analysis.
  • Supports and coaches managers to improve their leadership skills in managing and developing staff.
  • Supports managers to ensure they make the best use of the learning and development technology and information systems.
  • Supports the continuing development of best practice within the Service areas in order to maintain recognition as an Investor in People.
  • Carries out an analysis of the performance review and PDP data to inform future needs and interventions including supporting workforce planning

Skills & Experience:

  • Graduate calibre, quick to learn and who has a genuine interest in understanding how adults learn and develop.
  • Experience of working in a learning and organisation development environment and of designing and delivering own solutions and strategies.
  • Experience of project/programme management, including motivating others involved in the delivery of a piece of work.
  • Experience of developing and implementing organisation policy and strategy relating to learning and development, leadership and management development and talent management
  • Has good knowledge and understanding of the political drivers for the three council's and uses this to inform proposals for delivering transformational change
  • Has the ability to critically analyse and interpret complex information and data and translate into meaningful insights, present options and make recommendations
  • Experience of working with senior managers i.e. up to CEO level
  • Experience of budget management
  • Experience of managing a team of staff delivering agreed programmes and experience of ensuring delivery of agreed outcomes
  • Experience of design, delivery and evaluation of learning and organisation development solutions
  • Experience of project management
  • Has the ability to critically analyse and interpret complex information and data and translate into meaningful insights, present options and make recommendations
  • Has wide and well-developed knowledge and experience of leadership and management development thinking and talent development and is able to translate this into delivery options.
  • Has wide knowledge and experience of Learning and organisation development principles and practice
  • Is experienced internal learning and OD consultant
  • Understands the principles and practice of how adults learn.
  • Hs a wide understanding of organisation development principles and practice.
  • Has experience of commissioning and contract management and quality assurance
  • Is ideally a qualified coach and has good experience of coaching others i
  • Familiar with Word; Excel; PowerPoint and SharePoint
  • Ideally, qualified to use a range of assessment tools, e.g. MBTI. EI .360 feedback
