Our client is seeking a Housing Solutions Officer to join them in their offices based in Poole on a temporary contract basis for 11 months with the possibility of extension.

We are looking for candidates who have experience working within housing outreach and working with individuals and families with multiple high-level needs.

As the Housing Solutions Officer, you will be managing a caseload of up to 20 and duties will include:

  • To support and enable vulnerable customers with high-level needs into private rented accommodation and once there to avoid eviction. Issues may relate to health, mental health, finance and debt, relationships, anti-social behaviour, damage, hoarding, and other issues
  • To support the customer to engage with other professionals and external partner agencies to develop the confidence and life skills needed to manage their tenancy
  • To work in partnership with customers and other agencies to help manage the welfare, security and health and safety risks that potentially affect the customer, staff and wider community
  • To undertake assessments of customers housing related and wider support needs support, including income and expenditure forecasts and benefit coordination
  • To provide robust housing advice and assistance in line with current legislation and council policies to tenants

To be successful for this Housing Solutions post, you will need to have:

  • Tenacity relationship building patience persistent person-centred communication with people in crisis and calm under pressure
  • Minimum of 12 months experience of working with adults with complex needs which may include domestic abuse, homelessness, mental and/ or physical health issues, substance abuse, alcohol use and learning difficulties/disabilities
  • Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office systems
  • Experience of collaborative team working and the ability to be self-motivated to work alone/remotely
  • To have an understanding of the causes and effects of homelessness
  • Friendly and approachable team player
  • To have knowledge and understanding of the following; Housing and tenancy law, Welfare and benefits, The Homelessness Reduction Act, The Care Act, Criminal Justice, Mental health, Addiction

Please note: An Enhanced DBS issued within the last 12 months is required for this post

Your working hours will be Monday - Friday, 8:00 - 17:00

Pay rate: £10.92 p/h however this may be negotiable
