Our client is looking for an HOUSING PROCUREMENT OFFICER for an immediate start position,

the applicant must have over 2- 3 years experience in the same sector to be put forward for this role.

Job Responsibilities:

To work with and take strategic direction from the Strategic Creditors and Procurement Manager and Senior Managers in Housing. To work with staff within Housing to ensure excellence in services to customers, both internal and external.

To provide operational procurement support and consultancy advice to Housing (Property Services, Development Team, Capital Projects and Strategic Housing) to obtain value for money from all externally purchased goods, works and services providing sound advice.

To assist in the development and implementation of the Council's procurement strategy and procedures with the objective of obtaining best value from the Council's procurement expenditure within a legal Governance structure.

Skills required:

A thorough, methodical and committed approach to work
Ability to manage and develop employees and to improve business performance
Ability to manage the procurement and service delivery of construction consultants
Able to demonstrate knowledge on best practice in procurement (particularly in Construction)
An excellent knowledge of relevant Health & Safety legislation and good working practices
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
Excellent knowledge of building construction and all associated trade work
Good computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and Microsoft Project
Have an excellent working knowledge of current quantity surveying practice incl. partnering procurement building contracts
In depth knowledge of contract law, national legislation and EC Procurement Directives affecting procurement
Manage project involving multi-disciplines using a range of project management tools
