We have an exciting opportunity for an Homeless Casework Officer to join our clients offices based in Southsea on a temporary contract basis for 5 months with the possibility of an extension.

As the Homeless Casework Officer, your main duties will include:

  • You will also be assessing homeless applications in accordance with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. This will include making assessments of both housing and support needs, creating personal housing plans and reviewing and updating the housing plans as appropriate. You will need to be able to identify solutions to prevent and relieve homelessness wherever possible, and to work collaboratively with customers to achieve a housing solution.
  • The work will involve making assessments of support needs, liaising with other agencies to obtain information and identify appropriate housing solutions.
  • You will be required to record your assessments and decisions accurately using Portsmouth City Council's IT systems, and to communicate these decisions clearly to customers both verbally and in writing.

To be successful for this Homelessness Officer post you will need to have:

Has experience of working in a local authority making homeless decisions. You must be able to work independently to make homeless and care and support assessments, interpret legislation and make decisions in accordance with the legislation.

Has experience of managing a homeless caseload, prioritising work appropriately, keeping customers updated of the progress of their application and keeping accurate records.

Has knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, and an ability to apply this legislation and deal with homeless applications appropriately.

Start Date: ASAP

Working Hours: 37 Hours per week, Monday - Friday.

Pay Rate: £16.06 p/h
