This is a new interim role for a colleague with a good grasp of finance along with experience supporting attainment and compliance with financial targets and priorities at an operational level.

This is a new interim role for a colleague with a good grasp of finance along with experience supporting attainment and compliance with financial targets and priorities at an operational level.

Children and young people are placed in a range of settings according to their needs - however regular review of the accommodation is required by managers to ensure that the placement cost is proportionate to need. Where needs have changed and decisions have been made to cease or reduce support and associated costs, a methodology is required to ensure systematic oversight and tracking of these reductions. Where placements and costs have not been reviewed - a methodology is required to ensure this happens systematically.

The successful candidate will work very closely with the Head of Service and Finance managers to enable tracking, reporting and analysis of the spend on placements / accommodation. The financial data is available through Power Bi, so candidates must have a working knowledge of this tool - using existing power BI data bases (basic familiarisation session possible).

Part of your role will be to track and drive compliance with decisions that are made to reduce costs and this will entail interfacing with colleagues across the organisation to ensure that objectives are being achieved - i.e. talking with colleagues about progress / barriers to progress, towards agreed reductions.

You will also liaise with colleagues in different services, such as procurement services in housing, to identify sources of affordable privately rented accommodation, which certain cohorts of young people can step down into.

In summary, working with the head of service you will ensure that each of the 600 young people (Looked after children aged 16 and 17 and care leavers aged 18 to 25) are regularly reviewed, that trends are understood and following case reviews the agreed actions are tracked for compliance and completion.

You will be confident using business tools including POWER BI to track, understand and analyse data and be able to support the delivery of ambitious financial savings through using your expertise, communication skills and personal authority
