An 8 to 12 months opportunity for an Environmental Health Officer has arisen with the local authorities in Cambridge.

Working in the Covid-19 Prevention and Compliance Team this new and exciting role has been created to help reduce the resurgence of Coronavirus within our resident, working and student populations, while providing clear and concise support, advice and information to help our business sectors reopen, and return to normal operations, yet promoting a vibrant Cambridge city economy.


Essentially the post holder should have a good understanding and working knowledge of COVID-19 requirements and preferably been a regulatory role that has provided a COVID response during the last 18 months.


Our ideal candidate will be a qualified Environmental Health Officer and be able to cope with a dynamic, sometimes fast changing workload. Previous experience of working within a Commercial section (Food, Health and Safety, or Licensing) would be advantageous, so would experience in carrying out local authority intervention work especially dealing with outbreaks and infection control.


This role will involve joint working across internal and external stakeholders, to include; Environmental Health, Community Services and within the wider city council teams, dependent on where advice and support is needed.
They must be willing and able to carry out partnership working and offer business support and advice, where required. Liaison and working together with other LA officers and external partners will be crucial to help deliver our city and county projects and any vaccine/ hesitancy programmes, within our resident communities and business sectors within the City. The role will also assist in implementing the Council's prevention-based communications and targeted campaigns.

This is a full-time role (37hrs per week), with the flexibility to work in the evenings and weekends.
