A 3 months+ opportunity for a Corporate Communications Officer has arisen with the local authorities in Portsmouth.
Initially role will be working from home, unless required to attend specific events. In coming months there may some office working. Flexible working available.
The corporate communications officer role is responsible for protecting and enhancing the council's reputation, and the reputation of any external client services, through effective media management and stakeholder communications and engagement. This includes ensuring key target audiences are well-informed about the council and the services it provides, developing some marketing campaigns and activity to support corporate priorities and achieve service objectives, and supporting consultation and engagement activity.
Corporate communications officers are responsible for managing the relationship between marketing and corporate communications (and other parts of Community and Communication as required) as account managers for internal and external client services. Their role is to ensure support provided to client services meets service objectives, through effective forward planning, evaluation and reporting.
the post holder will be expected to work outside normal office hours from time to time, including: to ensure communications and consultation events are staffed and managed and neighbourhood forums are supported, media enquiries are handled, professional support is provided in an emergency or crisis situation, and to support council meetings and elections.
