Central Control Operator (Housing Benefits and Planning)

Our client is seeking a Central Control Operator on an initial 2 months contract with the possibility of an extension

Working Hours and Pay Rate

20.4 hours per week (flexible) at £12 per hour PAYE

Job Description

this service operates 24/7, 365 days a year. Answering supported housing pull-cord and piper lifeline calls, as well as operating an out of hours service for Maintenance and other council departments.

Working predominantly as a lone worker on a shift rota basis - Week 1 Mon, Tues, Week 2 Fri, Sat, Sun, Week 3 Weds, Thurs, with the flexibility to cover other available shifts both planned and at short notice. Tunstall PNC vision 6 experience preferred but training is provided to the right candidate. Ideally suited would be someone from a "care" background. This is a 2 months contract initially which may be extended due to the recruitment process in filling the temporary vacancy resulting by maternity leave.

Skills

  • 12 months experience with working with Older People in a caring environment
  • Clerical experience
  • Must be able to react quickly to emergency situations
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly, occasionally in times of emergency
  • Must be numerate and be able to write simple reports
  • Needs to be familiar with a keyboard and be able to acquire the skills to operate the central control system
  • Needs to be able to work unsupervised
  • Able to work to deal with stressful and emotional situations
  • Able to make difficult decisions
  • Able to communicate well with a team
  • Needs to have a sense of humour and be tolerant and patient
  • Good telephone manner
  • PNC3VISON or equivalent
  • Knowledge of IBS system
