A 2 month+ opportunity has arisen for a Career Graded Planning Officer within the local authorities in Nuneaton.

Job Purpose

To contribute to the Council's vision by providing a comprehensive Development Control Service, in accordance with Service Development plans, performance targets, legislation and the Council's service standards and policies.

Main Activities

  • Be committed to the Council's Vision and carry out work within the spirit and intention of its core values.
  • An understanding and awareness of the concept of "Making Every Contact Count" (MECC), attending training where necessary.
  • To maintain awareness of the Council's vision and assist in developing the Development Control Services to contribute to it including assisting in the production and delivery of service Development Plans, reports to elected Members, new services and work programmes.
  • To maintain an awareness of, and comply with, the service standards, performance and quality management arrangement of the service and meet personal targets as a contribution to their achievements.
  • To foster an innovative and open environment within Development Control where employees feel supported, involved and consulted
  • To show flexibility in responding to change and to make use of the technology available to deliver and improve the Development Control service.

Experiences

  • Experience in a Local Government or other public organisation
  • Experience of development control activities
  • Qualifications which meet the educational requirements to become a Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute i.e. degree or equivalent
  • 5 GCSE passes, including higher grades (C or above) in English and Mathematics and 2 A levels or equivalent qualifications or at least 2 years experience in a planning environment
  • Knowledge of planning legislation and guidance, particularly in relation to Development Control activities, enforcement and policy making.
  • Demonstrate ability to analyse and resolve complex information.

Rate of pay

PAYE: £45

Umbrella: £56

Hours of work are 09:00am till 5pm, Monday to Friday.
