Our client is seeking a Building Surveyor on an initial 6 Month contract with the possibility of an extension.

Working Hours and Pay Rate:

Monday - Friday, 09:00 - 17:00. At a pay rate of £234.53 Per Hour PAYE.

Job Purpose:

To provide professional advice on property and construction. To undertake minor works and planned maintenance projects, ranging in financial values from £1k - £1m

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To manage own workload
  • To prepare and deliver a variety of schemes to the required budget and programme and to pre-determined standards
  • Prepare design drawings, full specification and contract documentation (JCT and NEC suite of contracts) for procurement of contractors on a variety of property types
  • Deal with planning and building regulation applications and advise on property legislation
  • Assess and design building schemes to meet the needs of people with disabilities
  • Ensure compliance with all Quality, Building Regulations, Health & Safety and Environmental regulations and considerations
  • Instruct on construction design and management regulations
  • Negotiate dilapidations (when there is a legal liability for a property's state of disrepair)
  • Advise on the health and safety aspects of buildings
  • Assist in managing the overview of cost planning in all phases of projects including financial reporting and final accounts
  • To advise Clients via feasibility studies of the potential for schemes and estimated costs
  • Maintain close relationships with key existing clients and addressing concerns, to maintain high levels of satisfaction
  • To seek innovations and service improvements

Skills and Requirements:

  • Minimum qualification of BTEC HNC in Building Studies
  • Progressively working towards or have achieved professional qualifications of either the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) or Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB
  • At least 5 years post qualification experience
  • Proficient in producing drawings via AutoCAD
  • Able to demonstrate experience of the construction industry, building contracts and building-related legislation to include all aspects of health and safety and CDM regulations
  • To have held a position in a Local Authority or other organisation with responsibilities which can demonstrate the necessary experience to meet the essential skills and aptitudes. Political awareness and ability to operate in a political environment
